Having solution, application, infrastructure or security architects does not necessarily provide an enterprise-wide view.

Individual architects naturally focus on their areas of responsibility.

Enterprise Architecture connects these perspectives and considers the organisation as a whole.

It helps answer questions such as:

• Are different projects solving the same problem?
• Are investments aligned?
• Are we creating unnecessary dependencies?
• Are our systems moving towards a coherent target state?
• What capabilities should we prioritise?

EA therefore complements other architecture disciplines.
