Why do we need Enterprise Architecture if we already have architects?
Having solution, application, infrastructure or security architects does not necessarily provide an enterprise-wide view.
Individual architects naturally focus on their areas of responsibility.
Enterprise Architecture connects these perspectives and considers the organisation as a whole.
It helps answer questions such as:
- Are different projects solving the same problem?
- Are investments aligned?
- Are we creating unnecessary dependencies?
- Are our systems moving towards a coherent target state?
- What capabilities should we prioritise?
EA therefore complements other architecture disciplines.
